Want to Quickly Grow Your Business? Do These 2 Things

When I started SuccessClinic.com in my college dorm room in 1997, I had a ton of questions and not many answers.

What should I sell?

How much should I charge?

How do I get clients?

How do I put up my web site?

What should I put on my web site?

As time went on, I realized that the more answers I got, the more questions there were!

One day, I realized that if I really wanted to grow my business and help a lot more people, I’d better focus on doing two things.

First, let’s start with the equation that defines your business:

Leads x Conversion = Customers

Leads is the number of people who hear about your business in a given time frame (day, week, month, year).

Conversion is the number of people who decide to buy from you.

Conversion is usually expressed in a percentage – for example, for every 100 people who visit your web site (your leads), 2 of them end up buying from you.

So you would have a 2% conversion.

100 leads x 2% conversion = 2 customers.

Now, what if we could double the number of leads you get?

Without changing our conversion percentage, now we would have:

200 leads x 2% conversion = 4 customers

But what if we could double your conversions?

Now our equation would look like this:

200 leads x 4% conversion = 8 customers

We have now gone from 2 customers to 8 customers.

That’s a 400% increase, just by changing two things.

Can you say ka—ching?

Of course, there’s a lot more to it than that.

But can you start to get excited by realizing that business doesn’t have to be as hard as you’re making it?

Once I started to focus on attracting more high-quality leads – and then tracking and measuring conversions so I could improve them – that’s when my business started to double, and then triple, year over year.
