“Our character is a composite of our habits. Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly express our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.

For our purposes, we will define a habit as the intersection of knowledge, skill and desire.

Knowledge is the theoretical paradigm, the what to do and the why. Skill is the how to do. And desire is the motivation, the want to do…

    All your points are spot on and very helpful. We parents have the capacity, the capability to develop good habits in our children which in our case as parents, started inculcating positive habits to our kids at a young age. The outcome is very rewarding..besides we’re just doing exactly the job expected of us as parents.

    I have a big list of bad habits and quitting isnt easy. I’m aware changing bad habits requires a daily commitment but just how long time will it require, to finally see positive results? Is there a right time to seek professional help ??? Yes i want to change!

    Thought of sharing this here. My life messed up big time due to hoarding. Often times i hear that hoarding is difficult to treat but my experience says otherwise. I didn’t go through any procedures in breaking the bad habit..i just decided to change one day and found myself decluttering the next day.

    I was committed to get rid of my trash so i just tossed a number of stuff out a day. It felt sooo good to get rid of something – years of collecting and keeping things that I don’t use or need. I don’t want to replace what was thrown away and start that bad habit all over again.

    I feel like i’m fighting a losing battle trying to instill a few good habits in my kids. Tried my all and my very best. When is it time to seek professional help ?

    Great post Noah. Allow me to share about my past habit, which is something i don’t do now and yes it feels great to have finally gotten out of the rut. I used to be a shopaholic and sometimes even buying stuff that i dont really need which eventually made me broke. I’m glad that’s behind me now. Breaking a bad habit is not at all difficult i’ve realized, as long as you decide to change.
